I am talking about interactive viral web sites for consumer brands, web games, web apps, etc. I am interested in being involved with this type of marketing campaign though I would like to stay on the corporate or client side of marketing. So, I am wondering what type of position I need to go after in order to commision this type of creative and work on such high visibility integrated marketing campaigns.

Don’t mess with “gate keepers”. Develop a one-page summary of your proposal; inlcude one additional page with a thumbnail of the story board.
Present it directly to the owner, president, CEO.
Alternative marketing works — but anyone but the owner, president, CEO will more than likely resist change in marketing direction on viral web sites, etc.
I love the idea.
